In 1881 Mike Scanlon started a ferry service crossing the Colorado River. The ferry service was purchased from Mike Scanlon by Tom Gregg at a later date. Rumor has it that Tom Gregg bought this out of the way ferry service because he was hiding from the law, thus, the common name for the cove in which the ferry was located is now "Gregg's Hideout".
I am trying to dig up more details on this story and will post them if/when found.
